Postcard Summons
Why the Change to Postcards?
Our move to postcard summonses is part of a statewide effort to streamline court processes, improve juror engagement, and reduce costs. By using postcards, we aim to:
- Increase the number of jurors who respond quickly and easily.
- Provide a simplified, direct path to accessing juror information online.
- Lower the environmental impact by reducing paper waste.
This new format allows us to allocate more resources toward serving the community, improving court operations, and keeping you informed.
What to Expect on Your Summons Postcard
The postcard you receive in the mail will contain essential information about your jury duty. Here’s what it will include:
- Juror ID Number and Login Instructions: Use the Juror ID and your date of birth to log in to our secure Juror eResponse portal.
- QR Code for Easy Access: Simply scan the QR code on the postcard with your smartphone camera to go directly to our online portal.
The streamlined design helps ensure you receive just the information you need, with more available online through Juror eResponse.
Enhanced Features of Juror eResponse Portal
Our Juror eResponse portal makes it easy to manage your jury service. Through the portal, you can:
- Complete Required Forms: Fill out your juror questionnaire and other forms quickly.
- Opt-In for Notifications: Receive reminders and updates by text or email to stay informed about your service dates and times.
- Request Deferrals, Excusals or Disqualifications: If you need to postpone or excuse your service, submit a request online.
The portal is designed to make jury service as accessible and convenient as possible. For those without internet access, these steps can still be completed at the courthouse on your reporting day. Or please call our offices so that we may assist you. We can be reached at (805) 882-4530 for the Santa Barbara Jury Office or (805) 614-6464 for the Santa Maria Jury Office.
