Jury Scam alert -

The Santa Barbara Superior Court has received complaints about individuals trying to scam members of the public by pretending to be court officers or officials. The Jury Services office of the Santa Barbara Superior Court does not call citizens to request payments for failing to appear for jury duty. California law does not permit citizens to pay a fine in lieu of jury duty. If you receive such a call simply hang up and, if the scammer persists, call your local law enforcement agency. As a matter of public safety, everyone entering the Santa Maria Juvenile Court is subject to search and seizure of items identified on the Court’s List of Prohibited Items

You will go through a metal detector.  Your handbag, briefcase, backpack, and any containers may be x-rayed.  Leave prohibited items at home or in your vehicle; if confiscated, they will not be returned. When coming to court, please allow extra time to go through the weapons screening line.   

FREE CHILDREN'S WAITING ROOM

The Children's Waiting Room is located at the Juvenile Court in Santa Maria, 4285 California Blvd, Suite B, Santa Maria.  The waiting room is available on Mondays and Thursdays only, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. for children aged 2 1/2 (must be toilet trained)  to 12 years old, whose parent or guardian has court hearings and/or court business to conduct at the Juvenile facility. Parents must be in the building in order to leave the child in the waiting room.
